NightSoft ("we", "us", also referred to as "The Night Soft") makes the OptiPixel app for iPhone and iPad ("the App"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the App and this website. In short: your photos, videos and audio are processed on your device and are never uploaded by us.
1. Your media stays on your device
- Every tool — including Compress, Resize, Convert, Crop, Shape Crop, Collage, Color Filter, Watermark, Time Marker, Metadata, Doc Scanner, Text Extractor, Cutout, Face Blur, AI Transform, Remove Object and the video and audio tools — runs on your iPhone or iPad.
- We do not upload, store, view or analyse your photos, videos, audio or documents on any server, and we do not use them to train AI models.
- Your originals are not modified. Results are saved as new items in your Photos library or as new files in the folder you choose. If you choose the Override destination for files picked from the Files app, the App replaces that file and warns you each time before it does.
2. Permissions the App asks for
Each permission is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can change it at any time in iOS Settings.
- Photos: to open the photos and videos you pick and to save your results.
- Camera and microphone: only when you choose Camera as a source, to take the photo or record the video you are about to edit.
- Location (while using the App): only when you tap Current Location, for example to set the location in Metadata. The location is written into your file on the device; we do not receive it.
- Tracking (App Tracking Transparency): asks whether ads may use your device's advertising identifier. The App works the same whichever you choose.
- Files: the system file picker gives the App access only to the files and folders you select.
3. What we do not collect
- No account, name, email address or phone number is needed to use the App.
- We do not collect face or biometric data. Face detection for Face Blur and subject detection for Cutout run on the device and the results never leave it.
- We do not access your contacts, calendars or browsing history.
4. Services that receive limited data
The App uses the following third-party services. None of them receives your photos, videos or audio.
4.1 Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)
OptiPixel Premium is sold through Apple's App Store as monthly and yearly subscriptions. Apple processes the payment. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, purchase receipts and subscription status so the App can unlock Premium. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
4.2 Advertising (Google AdMob and its partners)
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob, which may use mediation partners such as InMobi to fill an ad. These services may process your IP address, device and app information, and — only if you allow tracking — the advertising identifier (IDFA), to show, limit and measure ads. Apple's SKAdNetwork may be used to measure ad installs without identifying you. If you decline tracking, ads are not personalised with the advertising identifier. Premium subscribers see no ads. 4.3 Analytics, crash reports and settings (Firebase)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which tools are used and where people get stuck, Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports (device model, iOS version and the technical state of the App at the time of the crash), and Firebase Remote Config to receive settings such as current promotions. This data is pseudonymous and does not include your media. See Firebase's privacy information.
4.4 AI model downloads
Some AI Transform styles and Remove Object need a larger machine-learning model. The App shows its size and downloads it only after you agree, from our server models.thenightsoft.com (hosted on Cloudflare). Like any download, the server receives your IP address and basic request information; no photo or personal data is sent. Downloaded models stay on your device and can be deleted in Settings › App Storage › AI Models.
4.5 Update check
The App asks Apple's App Store service whether a newer version is available, so it can tell you about updates. This request contains the App's identifier and your store region.
5. Website
This website is static and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) processes standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site.
Promo page. When you claim an offer code on the promo page, your browser keeps a random identifier (in local storage, not a cookie) so that a second visit shows the same code. Our promo service, run on Cloudflare Workers, stores that identifier with the code it gave you, the time, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit how many codes one network can claim per day; the IP address itself is not stored. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the request comes from a person, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Redeeming the code happens in the App Store, under Apple's privacy policy; we do not learn which Apple Account redeemed it.
6. Data retention and deletion
Settings, queue history and downloaded models are stored on your device. Deleting the App removes them. Data held by the services above is kept according to their own policies; you can reset your advertising identifier or limit tracking in iOS Settings at any time.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to certain processing. Because we do not keep your media or an account for you, most data exists only on your device. For data processed by the services above, contact us and we will help you reach them, or use their own tools.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when the App changes. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.
